A man who owns a 600sqft two storied house in Kaveri Nagar, South Bengaluru has to pay property tax to BBMP for an amount of over Rs 4 crore.
Aslam Pasha, the owner of the house, just cannot believe that he is to pay Rs 4,53,32,161 to the BBMP revenue office. He visited the revenue office at Channammanakere Acchukattu, near Yediyur, but was sent away.
In a statement to the Times Of India, Pasha said, “I went to the BBMP office to pay tax, but was told there was a problem and asked to come back on Monday. I am yet to see the challan.”
House owners have been complaining about technical glitches in the BBMP’s system. Property owners have been trying to pay their taxes before May 31 to get a 5% rebate.
Another property owner, B M Srinivasa Murthy, from Chikkakallasandra in South Bengaluru, was shocked to see a challan amounting to Rs 1.59 crore.
M Venkatachalapathy, joint commissioner, revenue, BBMP, admitted to TOI that it was a mistake and would be rectified.
