A 29-year-old AC technician named Monasim Reja was hit by a car while being dragged by a bus conductor. He is now in a critical condition with very little chance of survival.
The incident occurred in B Narayanapura in Mahadevapura last week. Reja who lives in B Narayanapura got into an altercation with a bus conductor on his way back home from work over a ticket.
The altercation turned physical after the ticket vending machine got damaged after falling on the road. Reja tried to walk away after he saw the other passengers coming in support of the infuriated driver. He started walking away.
“While he had crossed the road, the conductor allegedly ran behind him and held on to him and started pulling him back to the bus. But while he was being dragged, he got hit by a passing car,” said Mahatal Aalam, Reja’s friend, to Bangalore Mirror.
The police registered a criminal case against the bus conductor and driver last Thursday. The complaint has been registered against conductor Hari Krishna and driver Santosh under Section 338 of the Indian Penal Code for causing ‘grievous hurt by endangering life or personal safety’.
An investigating officer said that they have recorded the statements of both the driver and the conductor responsible for this mishap but have not arrested them. The conductor has claimed that Reja refused to take a ticket and this is what triggered the fight. The fellow passengers have also blamed Reja for the incident.
Reja is now in a private hospital in Whitefield. The doctors have said that he has only 10 per cent chance of survival.
