Karnataka Congress leader TP Ramesh was seen forcibly holding MLC Veena Achaiah during the Independence Day function in Madikeri. MLC Veena was seen removing his hand from hers.
It is sad that some of the comments said that she was smiling when she took off Congress leader's hand. She was sitting on a dais and obviously did not want to create a scene there on Independence Day. Than commenting about what Ramesh did, it is sad that people are trying to make it look that it the female MLC had no problem with it.
However, after the footage started being aired on the social media and TV channels, TR Ramesh said that he did not mean to offend the woman MLC. Now the Congress party has said that it will view the footage and take action if they find Ramesh guilty.
The party should take immediate action against such leaders. Else what kind of protection the parties in power can provide to the girls outside the Assembly?
Earlier, Congress MLA Ashok Kheny was also seen embarrassing women leaders, actresses Jayamala and Tara inside the Assembly. Whereas Jayamala distanced herself from Kheny when he tried to put his hands around her shoulders, actress Tara pushed his hands away. However, not stopping at this, Kheny after some days had tried to put his shoulder on the Anglo-Indian nomination in the Assembly, Vineesha Nero and put his hand around her shoulder, even when she stood there joining both her hands (namaskar).
