Karnataka traffic police to give free helmets to riders

Synopsis

The city traffic police will be giving the helmets on various prominent junctions.  75 percent vehicles out of 2 million vehicles in Bengaluru are two-wheelers.

To promote road safety, the Karnataka traffic police have started a special campaign. Under this campaign, the department has decided to hand over helmets to riders on various junctions around the city of Bengaluru.

The campaign kicked off on World Head Injury Day on March 20 and will be carried out for next three-days. The safety drive initiated by city traffic police with the support of Fortis Hospitals will cover Cunningham Road, Jayanagar 4th Block, JP Nagar, Nayandahalli, near Gopalan Mall, Inner and Outer Ring Road, and Rajajinagar.

71 percent of the total 42 million registered vehicles in Karnataka are two-wheelers, and in Bengaluru 75 percent vehicles out of 2 million are two-wheelers, and since severe head and neck injuries are the primary cause of death in road accidents, this is a welcome move.
