Parappana Agrahara Jail superintendent Somashekar has turned down emergency parole moved by VK Sasikala's advocates. The advocates had applied for parole along with medical certificate of Sasikala's husband Natarajan.

Superintendent Somashekar cited inadequacies in the application and has sought more details and affidavits. He has asked the counsel to make a fresh application.

Even if Sasikala's counsels make fresh affidavits, it will be thoroughly scrutinised with the help of Tamil Nadu police, which will press the jurisdictional police to verify the claims in the application. Which means, the process has to begin all over again and Sasikala won't be out on parole any time soon.

Jailed AIADMK chief VK Sasikala has applied for a 15-day parole to meet her ailing husband M Natarajan, her nephew and sidelined party leader T T V Dhinakaran said.

Natarajan, undergoing treatment at a corporate hospital in Chennai for liver problem, was "stable" and was awaiting liver transplantation, told Dhinakaran.

"We have applied for the parole of 'General Secretary' (Sasikala). She will get permission for sure. The (Karnataka) Prisons Department will decide on the number of days the parole will be given for," he had said earlier.

Currently lodged at Parappana Agrahara jail in Bengaluru, Sasikala was convicted and sentenced to a four-year prison  term in the Rs 66.6-crore disproportionate assets case. Natarajan has been undergoing treatment at the corporate hospital for the past few days.
