In all probabilities, the State might go for polls in May as the Election Commission has reportedly asked the State government to make preparations in that month.
The current Assembly will expire on May 28, 2018, and if reports to be believed, the EC may hold the elections on May 2, before the current Assembly expires in the State. According to reports, the EC had asked the Chief Secretary to make necessary preparations if the polls are held on May 2.
Suvarna News stated that there had been no official word on whether the polls would be held on May 2. However, the Chief Secretary would respond to the EC about the date.
It may be recalled here that in 2013, elections were held in Karnataka on May 5. Like the last term, the Election Commission hopes to hold the polls in single phase this year too.
