Narendra Modi is the Prime Minister of our country. He is my PM too. I questioned his silence with regard to Gauri Lankesh’s killing. Is it a mistake, asked actor Prakash Raj, reported Kannada Prabha.
Actor Prakash Rai has defended his statements questioning PM Modi’s silence with regard to Gauri Lankesh’s killing. “I never hesitate to express what I feel is right. I always express my opinion wherever it is necessary and is called for.
Modi is the elected Prime Minister of the country, by majority votes. As a citizen of this country I have every right to disagree with his decisions and policies and to get into a debate with him” he said for an interview with the Hindu paper.
“Modi is not a representative of one Party but the representative of a secular country. I raised some disagreement with regard to some issues. I am paying the price for it. There were some who celebrated Gauri Lankesh’s killing. It was shocking to find out that PM Modi was following such persons. As a responsible citizen of the country, PM Modi’s silence hurt me. Is it a sin to feel so?” he asked.
Prakash Rai also clarified that his opinions should not be considered as his intention of entering politics. If In case he wants to enter politics he would do so straight on, he said.
Meanwhile, Dr Shivarama Karantha Pratishtana announced that Prakash Rai has been selected for this year’s Karanth Award. The award will be conferred on him at a function on Oct 10. Some BJP members took objection to it and declared they would show black flag and protest at the function and brought pressure on the Pratishthana to not give it to Prakash Rai.
However, the Pratishthana said it would not heed to such reactions. The award is conferred on personalities from various fields and Prakash Rai has been selected after careful consideration. The awards function will be carried out as per plan.
