
IT giant Intel is all set to invest Rs 1100 crore to establish a state-of-the-art Research and Development Centre at Sarjapura in the City.
The Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced this at a program, on Wednesday, organised by Intel. He said he was happy that Intel has invested highest, next to US, in Karnataka since 1999 and he credited it to the policies, encouragement and support that the government is extending to Information Technology sector.
Invest Karnataka is attracting investors into Karnataka in large numbers, providing increased employment opportunities. The IT is emerging as the largest employment generating sector and the State government is committed to support and provide all infrastructure and facilities, he said. He also assured safety and protection.
IT Minister Priyank Kharge said Bengaluru has the highest potential for IT sector and the investing companies are contributing in a large way in taking the country forward. He also predicted innovations and enhanced employment opportunities.
Intel will set up its new R&D centre at the sprawling 6.2 lakh sq ft campus at Sarjapur with state -of-the-art infrastructure and will use renewable energy sources.
Intel India General Manager Nivruti Rai, Chief Secretary IT-BT Department Gaurav Gupta and Director Salma were present.
