CM had announced it in his budget Tickets in multiplexes to cost Rs 200 in Karnataka Screening of Kannada movies in prime time slot was another promise made in the budget

At the Karnataka State Film Awards ceremony, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday said that a notification in this regard would be released in two days. He also said that the notification will mandate the screening of Kannada movies on prime time - between 4.30 pm and 7.30 pm - in multiplexes. The notification is said to be issued by Thursday.

If that happens in two days, moviegoers in Karnataka can watch SS Rajamouli’s grand canvas – Baahubali 2 – at just Rs 200! 'Baahubali 2' is releasing on Friday, April 28.

Capping the ticket price in mulitplexes and allotting prime time slot for Kannada movies were the major demands of various pro-Kannada organisations. Chief Minister in his budget had promised to implement these. Karnataka is the second state in restricting the ticket prices in multiplexes after Tamil Nadu.
