Synopsis

Prakash Rai clarified that the five national awards are recognition of his talent and efforts and he is not stupid enough to return them. He is extremely pained by journalist Gauri’s killing and the fact that we have amidst us minds that celebrate killings. He had only said 'these leaders are double acting, I feel I must give my awards to them'. BJP MP Pratap Simha has made strong comments about Prakash Rai, using singular language.

A statement attributed to film actor Prakash Rai (Known in Kollywood and Tollywood as Prakash Raj) that he would return his awards at a program organised to condemn the killing of journalist activist Gauri Lankesh on Monday has led to a debate. However, Prakash Rai clarified that the five national awards are recognition of his talent and efforts and he is not stupid to return them, reported Kannada Prabha.

Responding to the debate on social media, he spoke to news persons and said “I am not a stupid to return my awards. The awards are in recognition of my efforts and talent. The news of me returning the awards is false.”

He also clarified that he is extremely pained by journalist Gauri’s killing and the fact that we have amidst us minds that celebrate killings. “People who follow Narendra Modi also have celebrated Gauri’s death. But he has not reacted to it till now. I don’t know why he is silent till now” he said. He said many have trolled him on his Facebook and Twitter and demanded action against perverts.

Prakash Rai was speaking at a program on Sunday and said it is doubtful whether a chief minister is running the government or is a temple priest. These leaders are double acting, I feel I must give my awards to them, he had said.

Meanwhile BJP MP Pratap Simha has made strong comments about Prakash Rai, using singular language, and asked when he was asked to comment on Cauvery he had blurted out that he is an actor and why such questions were asked of him, now why is he dragging Modi for a State law and order situation.
