Heavy showers not over yet. Expect four more days of rain in City

Synopsis

In the last 24 hours, the City received 54 mm of rainfall Weather experts attribute heavy showers to depression in the Bay of Bengal Not just Bengaluru, other parts of the State too are receiving incessant rainfall

After a short break of bright sunny days, the heavy rains have come to haunt Bengalureans. The City has been receiving incessant rains since Sunday night and continued till afternoon. Students and Office-goers had a tough time to reach their destination as the roads were inundated with water with traffic bottleneck being reported from everywhere.

Owing to a depression in the Bay of Bengal, the city will continue to be soaked in heavy rain for another four days, predict weather experts. In a span of 24 hours from 8.30 am on Sunday, the city received 54mm of rainfall inundating several low-lying areas.

Areas that received heavy rainfall were Vijayanagar, Shantinagar, Yeshvanthpur, Malleswaram and MG Road. A lorry is stuck at the railway underpass at Shivananda Circle as the underpass is clogged with water.

Weather experts attribute the sudden shower to the presence of a trough in the proximity of Bengaluru which has been running up to the extreme Southern parts of the country, according to Skymetweather.

Not just Bengaluru, the rain also lashed Vijayapura, Gadag, Davangere,  Dharwad, Mysuru and Ramnagar. In Davangere, the fire personnel had a harrowing time in clearing water from their premises. The water had reached up to the knee length, and the officials were struggling to pump out the water.
