Heavy rains at Talakaveri following Puja

Synopsis

Pooja and Bagina offered by Adichunchanagiri seer, M B Patil at Talakaveri Heavy rains lashes Bhagamnadala for two hours, soon after the puja I believe in nature, not in puja: CM

On the heels of conducting Parjanya Homa at the Panchateertha, Mahabaleshwar, base of Krishna river, praying for rains, Water Resources Minister M B Patil offered special puja at the Kaveri birthplace Bhagamandala, on Sunday. Adichunchanagiri seer Nirmalanandanatha Swamy and MB Patil jointly offered a Bagina to river Kaveri. In a strange coincidence, heavy rains lashed  Bhagamandala for two hours, soon after the puja.

Following strong criticism for conducting puja and Homa for rain, terming it a superstition, Minister M B Patil had announced that the puja at Bhagamandala to be a private program. Hence official escorts were not provided to him.

“If one terms worship of mother as superstition, I am willing to offer it one million times” announced M B Patil.  Speaking to newspersons after offering Bagina to Kaveri River at Bhagamandala on Sunday, he said, following criticism, the expenses for the puja would met by him and his friends. “The Chief Minister did not wish to propagate superstition. However, his wife is visiting several temples and offering prayers. Her prayers are fortunately reflecting on CM”, he said.

“I believe in nature”

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has once again clarified that there is no connection between the government and minister’s puja. “I do not believe that praying begets rain. The minister has conducted the puja from his personal funds. The government is not a part of it in any way” he clarified.

Speaking at a program in Mysore, the CM said, “rain is a natural phenomenon. I believe in nature and not in puja. The government has dealt with two years of drought. The Meteorological Department has predicted good rains this year. I believe we will have good rains” he said.
