Karnataka girl still critical, in coma after scuba diving in Hawaii

A 20-year-old Shruthi from Chikkamagalur district went Scuba Diving in the Hawaii with her husband Currently, Shruthi has been admitted to a hospital in Hawaii but is not out of coma even after six days She slipped into a coma after her oxygen mask came off and she drank water from the sea. The couple had been to Hawaii on a week-long holiday

A 20-year-old girl from Lakkavalli in Chikkamagalur district went Scuba Diving in the Hawaii with her husband Seetharamakrishna drank water as her oxygen mask came off and had slipped into coma is said to be still in critical condition.

Victim Shruthi's brother Karthik spoke to the Hindu and said that her condition is critical and she is being treated at the Maui Memorial Medical Centre in Sunnyvale, he said that water in her brain has damaged brain cells. 

Seetharamakrishna works at the Yahoo.com office at San Jose of California, US. He was on holiday with his wife Shruthi in Hawaii. The couple got married 11 months ago.  As her parents do not have the passport, they are not able to visit their daughter, whose condition is said to be severe. Sources said that she is in the coma from four days. Her husband is by her side.

The couple had been to Hawaii on a week-long holiday. They attempted Scuba Diving when the oxygen mask Shruthi was wearing came off, and she drank water from the sea. Seetharam has made a plea to the Indian Embassy to make provisions for Shruthi's parents to come to Hawaii, reported Vijaya Karnataka.

Reacting to the situation, BJP leader and former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa has asked the authorities concerned to provide passport on the tatkal basis for the parents of the girl. He has requested External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj in this regard and said that the department has given a positive reply in this regard.

Karthik has told the Hindu that the family has applied for a passport under tatkal on July and will fly to the US as soon they get all the documents.
