Synopsis

The preliminary investigation report on the murder of Gauri Lankesh has revealed that the assailants had followed her at least for 15 days.

It is to be noted that Gauri had expressed concern over the fact that she was being followed by someone. She had called her mother and said that she had a feeling that she was being followed by some people. Though sources earlier had said that CCTV was installed in Gauri's house 15 days ago, her sister Kavitha confirmed that it was installed five months ago.

Days before her shooting death, Gauri had received death threats, BT Lalitha Naik, a close friend of Gauri Lankesh told police.

However, it looks like repeated death threats had made her numb towards the seriousness of such calls and may be that is why she did not file a complaint with the police.

The sources also said that even though Gauri had this feeling of someone following from 15 days, it is possible that she was being watched for at least 30 days. It is also speculated that when two people followed her car on the bike, one person was standing near her house allegedly confirming her arrival.

OneIndia reported that Gauri was scheduled to meet the Home Minister on Monday. But due to some reasons, this meet did not realise. May be if she had met him, she would have spoken about this matter and would have got the needed security.

Here is the video of Gauri's arrival at home and the fateful shooting:
