Ganja hidden in biscuit packet at Parappana Agrahara

Ganja being hidden between biscuits was found brought in by a friend of the inmate Jail authorities are taking all precaution by tightening the security at the jail gates. In 5 years total of 44 tonne narcotic drugs, 4,437 mobile phones, 3,116 SIM, 1,121 chargers, 3,307 batteries were found.

The tussle between officials and inmates at Parappana Agrahara Central jail is giving rise to new innovative methods to smuggle in narcotics.  After the inmates tried to get drugs through food, fruits, chappals, peanuts, now Ganja being hidden between biscuits was found brought in by a friend of the inmate, reported Kannada Prabha.

The incident came to light a little late, but the jail authorities are taking all precaution by tightening the security at the jail gates. After the recent showdown with DIG and jail chief superintendent, the visiting time and supplies to inmates are being checked very strictly.  

In the CAG 2010-15 report of all 102 jails in the State, including the 8 Central jails, it was stated that a total of 44 tonne narcotic drugs, 4,437 mobile phones, 3,116 SIM, 1,121 chargers, 3,307 additional batteries were found.  Such huge amount of banned materials were seized as a result of unexpected raids and routine checkings, the report said.

After this report the jail authorities took steps to tighten the security at jails. As a first step, State Industrial Safety Force (KSIF) guards were deputed at the main entrance gates.  Later CCTV cameras were installed.  After this a Central monitoring cell was installed at the central office in the jail with CCTV cameras covering the entire jail premises.
