The tweet by KPCC executive president Dinesh Gundu Rao stating that religious fundamental groups like PFI should be banned, in the wake of 6 ISIS terrorist who are members of PFI, arrested in Kerala, pictures of whom was released by the Kerala police, has created a great debate, reported Kannada Prabha.
Dinesh Gundu Rao tweeted “Religious Fundamental org’s like PFI are a threat to India’s security and secular fabric. Strict action needs 2 be taken. Government should ban them.” It can be recalled that the State government had withdrawn cases against PFI. Hence the Executive president of Congress making a direct statement calling for ban against a major Muslim outfit was a surprise.
Dinesh Gudu Rao was trolled for his tweet with several criticising him for a hasty remark. Some reminded him of his past RSS membership and said he should stop tweeting without considering the consequences.
Dinesh Gundu Rao in turn replied to his critics with a series of tweets that said “Terror in the name of religion and ideology does exist in our country. We can’t deny that. The only way forward is to eschew fundamentalism.” And in another tweet he said “What we need is to refocus on what Mahatma Gandhi taught us..# Ahimsa, Tolerance, Acceptance of different cultures, practises and behaviour.”
