JD(S) Supremo HD Deve Gowda met theatre personality and activist Prasanna who is on a hunger strike demanding Goods and Services Tax exemption on handmade products, and expressed his support to his protest. Gowda also requested him to give up the strike.

Speaking to newspersons, Gowda said handloom and cottage industry goods are used by all classes of society. By imposing GST on them, the life of families that depend on hand-made products for their livelihood is under threat. The Central government is proud about having imposed the GST but it should also think about the disasters it has brought with it. "I will meet prime minister Narendra Modi and apprise him of the short-comings of GST," Gowda told reporters.
