
The Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said Shiv Sena that is criticising the State for the State flag issue has no knowledge of Constitution. Speaking to media persons at the railway station, on Thursday, he said the Kannada flag has been in use for a long time but did not have legal sanctions. “Where does it say, in a federal system, that states cannot have separate flags? I have studied law, I can argue as a lawyer”, he said, reported Kannada Prabha.
The demand for a State Flag has been pending for long. A committee has been formed to look into the issue and report the benefits and adversities. Final decision will be taken only after the report is submitted. Definitely it will not act adversely to the sovereignty of the country or the unity, he said. Answering to a query the Chief Minister said we are against Hindi imposition in Metro.
The Chief Minister arrived by a special chartered flight to Hubli from Bengaluru. After inaugurating the Bus Day, organised by the Northeast Sector of KSRTC, the CM travelled by normal bus to Dharawad.
Meanwhile at Mumbai, an editorial published in Samna, the newspaper of Shiv Sena said that the separate State Flag proposed by the State is treason. It also recommended that the Congress High Command Sonia Gandhi should throw out Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. It alleged that Karnataka’s decision to have a State Flag is detrimental to the unity of the country.
