Chief Minister Siddaramaiah who seemed too be shaken by the sudden and surprise Income Tax raid on Energy Minister DK Shivakumar has taken the state intelligence personnel to task.
The chief minister has reportedly summoned the intelligence officials to his home office Cauvery and is seeking an explanation from the officials. It is reported that the state intelligence wing officials had no clue about such a massive raid. This has severely upset the chief minister.
According to Suvarna News, Siddaramaiah was particularly angry on the presence of Central Reserve Police Force personnel who have been deployed outside the minister's residence at Sadashivanagar while the officials continued their search.
"How could the Centre send the CRPF personnel without the State's knowledge. What were the officials doing all these while," Siddaramaiah reportedly thundered.
Meanwhile, the move of the Income Tax officials using the CRPF personnel has been strongly condemned by the State Congress officials. Senior Congress leader Janardhan Poojary asked whether the minister Shivakumar was a terrorist to have given CRPF protection to IT officials during the raids? Roping in CRPF personnel for the raid is an insult to the force.
"Income Tax office is not part of any government or party. I have been the minister for this department but never misused the power," reports The Times of India quoting Poojary.
