Centre stops My Petrol Pump from delivering fuel home

Synopsis

Centre instructs the oil company not to implement My Petrol Pump scheme of home delivery. This is following a letter by PESO to all bunks not to sell petrol and diesel to door delivery tankers. My Petrol Pump CEO has written to Union Petroleum minister to reconsider the pilot project. Launched on June 18, the scheme already had 600 consumers.

The first in the country attempt to door - deliver diesel through an innovative Bengaluru based My Petrol Pump has been stopped following a directive from the Centre.  The Central Government owned company Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO) has written to all petroleum companies, bunks and private bunks not to sell diesel to the door delivery tankers belonging to My Petrol Pump in view of safety, reported Kannada Prabha.

Without the supply of diesel My Petrol Pump had to be stopped. However, the CEO of My Petrol Pump Ashish Kumar Gupta has written to the Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to permit his company to provide service on a pilot project, until such time as safety regulations for door delivery are formulated.  He has also requested for guidance.

My Petrol Pump was an innovative scheme from the Bengaluru based company launched on June 18, with 3 tankers of 950 litre capacity. It had sold 5000 litres in 4 days of its launch. It had already registered 600 customers. On June 22 the service was stopped following the PESO circular. Gupta has said the company has already incurred a loss of Rs 30 lakhs.
