Notice to police commissioner for calling this man Bomb Naga

Synopsis

V Nagaraj’s lawyer issues notice to police commissioner against calling his client Bomb Naga Nagaraj had got an injunction from the High Court in 2015 against the use of contentious name

Nagaraj had got injunctions from the High Court that he should not be referred as Bomb Naga. He alleged that the police continues to call him Bomb Naga or Pal Naga. He had contended that referring to him by these names affects his social status.

Thus he had filed a case in this regard with the High Court in 2015, which gave its verdict that he should be called only as V Nagaraj and not by any other name. Following this order, the police had removed his name from their records.

However, he came in the news again after two years as the Hennur Police conducted a raid on his house on April 14, with regard to kidnapping a businessman. On the occasion, the media had asked Additional Commissioner Hemanth Nimbalkar for his comments, and he had referred to the man as Bomb Naga.

Following this, Nagaraj has issued a notice to the commissioner that referring him as Bomb Naga is the contempt of the court. If the same practice is continued, a complaint will be filed, said Shrirama Reddy, lawyer of Nagaraj, speaking to Kannada Prabha.

However, when Kannada Prabha reporter spoke to Commissioner Praveen Sood in this regard, he refused to comment anything.
