
The State Cabinet has decided to hand over 431 acres land within the City Urban district limits for the construction of one lakh houses at 50 different regions, reported Kannada Prabha.
Law Minister T B Jayachandra spoke to newspersons after the Cabinet meeting and informed that approval has been given for handing over 431.11 acres of Gomala and Kharab lands in various villages within the Bengaluru Urban district limits for construction of one lakh houses. The project envisages 1100 acres and currently only 431 acres have been handed over, he said.
The Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation is going to identify the rest 700 acres within the urban district. Out of the 17,000 acres seized from the encroachers by the State Government, 1100 acres will be utilised for the housing project.
The 431 acres approved to be handed over also lies within the encroached land. The lands are spread over Bengaluru East, North and South taluks and also Anekal taluk in 50 places. As the policy states that the government land should be handed over free of cost, no fee has been imposed for this transfer of lands.
