Bengaluru onion lorry caught with 10,000 kg of explosives in Kerala border

A massive quantity of explosives was discovered in a truck seized near the Karnataka-Kerala border. 10,000 kgs gelatin sticks, fuses and ammonium nitrate were found hidden under 100 kilos of onions. The Bengaluru registered lorry was seized with a car accompanying the lorry. Four have been arrested
A massive haul of explosives being transported from Bengaluru to Kozhikode was seized at Wayanad border by Kerala police. A car that was accompanying the lorry was also seized. Four persons have been arrested, reported Kannada Prabha.
The lorry, bearing a Bengaluru registration, was officially carrying onions. On a tip off, the police stopped the lorry near Muthunga. On inspecting the vehicle, it was found to be carrying 4700 kilos of gelatin sticks, 200 kilos of safety fuses and 4700 kilos of ammonium nitrate (saltpetre). This massive amount of explosives was concealed under 100 kilos of onions.
The lorry driver and cleaner are from Dharmapuri, Tamil Nadu. The two persons travelling in the car are from Kerala. The lorry has been taken to theSulthan Bathery police station.
Reportedly, the suspension of check posts after the GST implementation has seen an increase in contraband smuggling between states.
