A large number of crowd, resembling a fair, was seen at the Kukke Subrahmanya temple during the long weekend. Over a lakh devotees visited the temple. This is a record visitors during a rainy season, reports Kannada Prabha.
The last weekend, being a long holiday, large number of people made the best use of it by visiting Kukke. Many had taken one more day’s leave on Tuesday, which was a Ashlesha Nakshatra for conducting special pooja. All the three days saw heavy rains at Kukke but it did not deter the devotees from making serpentine queues around the temple. For some time the main door of the temple was closed to control the crowd.
Highest number of special poojas like 'Ashlesha Bali', 'Shesha Seve', 'Naga Pratishte', 'Mahapuje' and 'Panchamruta Abhisheka' were conducted by devotees. Huge crowd was also sen at the Adi Subrahmanya temple and Kumara Dhara bathing ghats. Vehicles piled up to 3 km from Kumaradhara main arch to the Temple Street. KSRTC had deployed special buses to facilitate the crowd.
