Karnataka: Akrama Sakrama cut off period extended to 2015

Synopsis

The Karnataka Land Reforms (4th) Amendment Bill that extends the cut off time for regularising houses built in revenue lands in the City and town limits was passed unanimously.  Following huge demand for Akrama Sakrma cut off period to be extended the amendment was proposed. Cut off time has been extended from the earlier Jan, 2012 to Jan 2015 and approved by the legislative assembly on Thursday. Owners who have constructed houses illegally on revenue land under Land Act 1964 Section 94C and urban and slum residents under section 94 CC can apply for regularising.

The Karnataka Land Reforms (fourth) Amendment Bill that extends the cut off time for regularising houses built in revenue lands in the City and town limits from the earlier Jan, 2012 to Jan 2015 has been approved by the legislative assembly on Thursday, reported Kannada Prabha.

The bill earlier had provision for regularising houses constructed till Jan 2012. Following huge demand for Akrama Sakrma cut off period to be extended the amendment was proposed.  Since it has been approved now, applications can be submitted for regularising houses.

The bill was tabled by Revenue Minister Kagodu Thimmappa. He defended the amendment stating there are a large number of people who are waiting to regularise their houses and to cover them also under the bill the amendment was proposed. The cabinet approved it unanimously. According to this bill owners who have constructed houses illegally on revenue land under Land Act 1964 Section 94C and urban and slum residents under section 94 CC can apply for regularising.
