At least 530 people in and around Sullia and Puttur have been identified either with dengue or chikungunya According to District Health and Family Welfare Department records, 1,787 people are suffering from severe fever

The number of dengue and chikungunya cases in Dakshina District is on the rise. At least 530 people in and around Sullia and Puttur have been identified either with dengue or chikungunya, which is a matter of concern.

According to District Health and Family Welfare Department records, 1,787 people are suffering from severe fever. The district centres are not prepared to handle the situation and to take care of such a large number of patients, thus inconveniencing them, complaining people.

That's Kannada reported that soon 100 Chikungunya kits would be sent to the affected along with three teams of doctors to check the people and spread awareness about the fever.

The nodal centres have been opened to create awareness about the various kinds of fever and the preventive methods, said Dr Jagannath, the Chief Medical Officer speaking to That's Kannada.
