Two drivers and one conductor of northwest transport, arrested by Udupi police for raping a minor girl in the bus, are suspended from work according to an order issued by divisional controller Jagadish on Tuesday. The suspended employees are Raghavendra Badigere, driver at Ranebennur transport division, Yuvaraja C Kattekara, conductor and Veerayya C Hiremath driver of Hirekerur division. They are suspended on accused of raping a minor girl on July 5.
A minor girl had travelled from Hirekerur to Ranebennur on July 5. She had to catch a bus to Udupi. As there was no night bus to Udupi she sat in the same bus. The three accused raped her in the bus. Next day she went home to Udupi and informed her parents. They immediately lodged a complaint with the Udupi women’s police station, who arrested the three.
Women and Child Welfare Minister Umashree had written to the Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy to suspend the three and hence they were suspended.
