10 tribal colleges to come up in State

State government will establish 10 colleges exclusively for tribal and scheduled castes. The colleges will come up in backward regions at a total cost of Rs 250 crore There will be 60 per cent reservations for tribal students and 40 per cent for rest of the categories

The State government has decided to establish 10 Adivasi colleges in various parts of the State. Of this 60 per cent seats will be reserved for adivasis and 40 per cent for other categories. The residential PU colleges will be constructed at a cost of Rs 250 crore. The colleges are meant to facilitate adivasis and schedules castes. Backward regions like Kolar, Chitradurga, Haveri, Chamarajanagar, Kalaburgi, Raichur, Vijayapura, Yadagiri, Bidar and Koppal each will get one college each.
