In a relief initiative aimed at supporting auto drivers affected by rising fuel shortages, JDS leader Hoodi Vijay Kumar distributed food kits and gas coupons in Kolar district. The move comes amid concerns over gas availability, which he attributed to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. The initiative is intended to ease the burden on daily wage earners who rely heavily on fuel for their livelihood.
He was speaking after distributing the aid to auto drivers on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti. The programme was held at his residence near White Garden in Malur town. Prior to the distribution, he paid floral tributes to the statue of Dr B.R. Ambedkar.
“Every Indian should respect the Constitution and Dr Ambedkar by adopting the principles he gave us,” he said.
“Gas has become difficult to access these days. This initiative is not for elections or publicity. We also supported auto drivers during the COVID-19 pandemic,” he added.
He further alleged that some political parties are using Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar’s name for vote bank politics. “They are not ensuring that government benefits reach the oppressed communities,” he said.
During the event, retired teacher Kanagala Venkataswamy joined the JDS party. Taluk JDS President B.K. Narayanaswamy, along with party leaders R. Prabhakar, Venkatesh Gowda, Badagi Srinivas, Anjinappa, Gopal Gowda, Kutti and Srinath, were present.
Others in attendance included Dodda Kallalli Narayanaswamy, Dibbayya, Gutlappa, Chalapathi, S. Narayanaswamy, B.R. Venkatesh Babu, Devaraj Reddy, Rajaram, Mohan Babu and Pandu Kiran.
