The tragic incident occurred on the national highway near Somasamudra village in Kurugodu taluk of Ballari district. The victims were reportedly standing outside a bakery when the lorry suddenly veered towards the footpath and struck them.

Lorry Accident In Ballari Leaves Woman Dead

The impact was severe, killing 48-year-old Mahadevi on the spot. Three others, identified as Sunitha, Poojari Jedemma and Gagan, sustained injuries in the accident.

Locals rushed the injured victims to Ballari Trauma Care for immediate treatment. Initial reports indicate that the lorry driver's alleged negligence may have contributed to the accident.

Lorry Rams Into People On Footpath

A nearby CCTV camera reportedly captured the incident. The footage shows four people standing and chatting on the footpath outside a bakery in Somasamudra village.

The speeding lorry suddenly struck the group, leaving them with little time to react. Mahadevi suffered fatal injuries and died at the spot, while the other three sustained injuries.

Kurugodu police officials visited the accident site after receiving information about the incident. They have registered a case and launched an investigation into the crash.
