Synopsis

Kings XI Punjab kept their hopes of qualifying for the playoffs alive.  KXIP defeated Mumbai Indians by seven runs on Thursday.

Martin Guptill took a blinder of a catch to dismiss Lendl Simmons, who was looking extremely dangerous during that incredible run chase on Thursday. Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) set a daunting target of 231 runs for Mumbai Indians. Believe it or not, Mumbai Indians almost pulled off the best run chase in the history of the Indian Premier League. But at the end, Rohit Sharma and co. fell short by 7 runs.

Simmons and Parthiv Patel, the two Mumbai Indian openers, were scoring at the rate of knots. In 8.3 overs, Mumbai Indians had already put up 99 runs on the scoreboard, courtesy, some relentless hitting from Simmons and Patel. KXIP were desperate for a wicket.

While KXIP skipper Glenn Maxwell was bowling at Simmons, the West Indian tried to put one over the rope but he did not know that his inning will be coming to a sudden halt. Guptill was stationed at the boundary and he went airborne to pull off a screamer of a catch to turn the tides in KXIP's favour.

Take a look at what it could be judged as one of the best catches of IPL 2017:
