RCB cannot make it to the IPL 2017 playoff stage anymore.

It is all but over for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Virat Kohli's side is out of contention for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 Playoff spot. They were awful in the field yet again and without anyone's surprise Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) prevailed at the end and that too quite comprehensively as they outplayed Kohli and co. by 61 runs.

This has indeed been a disappointing season for RCB as they have played 10 matches and lost seven. One of the matches was abandoned by rain and they had to split the points. One cannot really expect a team to make it to the qualifiers if they lack any kind of intent.

Kohli had pointed it out after the previous match as well that the players need to back their abilities and play fearlessly. He was the only one who played an attacking brand of cricket against RPS on Saturday evening. His fifty was the only positive that RCB can draw out of the game.

"I think it's for everyone to see we lost that game. It's hard for a captain to stand here and speak after a performance like this. We lost the game rather than them winning it. But got to learn and move on from these kind of experiences. Could be a few reasons, expectations, people looking at us as a good batting side that made the Playoffs last year. Can't really pinpoint something -- could be hesitation to get out, to get runs," Kohli said at the post-match press conference.

Meanwhile, RPS looked really good both with bat and the ball. Steve Smith and co. did a wonderful job to bag two points. Now they have 10 points and are looking extremely confident a side. They are surely a side, who are in the race to make it to that elusive playoff spot.
