YSRCP blames coalition for driving industries out of Andhra Pradesh

YSRCP spokesperson Putta Sivashankar claimed industries are leaving Andhra Pradesh due to harassment and extortion by the coalition govt. He cited the exit of major projects and challenged the government's investment and job creation figures.

Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) spokesperson Putta Sivashankar said industries are being driven out of Andhra Pradesh because of harassment and extortion demands by coalition leaders. Speaking at the YSRCP Central Office on Saturday, he said the industrial sector has plunged into crisis after the coalition government came to power, with even existing investors leaving the State.

'Investments Fleeing Andhra Pradesh'

He claimed that the Rs 6,675-crore Tata Power project proposed in Nellore moved to Odisha, while the Rs 3,538-crore Websol project planned at Naidupeta shifted to West Bengal, and demanded that the government explain why these investments left Andhra Pradesh. He challenged the government's claims of attracting Rs 24 lakh crore in investments and creating 20 lakh jobs, asking it to place details of the projects and beneficiaries in the public domain. If it cannot disclose all 20 lakh jobs, it should at least show details of 10 per cent of them, he said.

'Harassment and Interference'

Sivashankar said the government took back land allotted during YS Jagan's tenure to Coca-Cola in Anakapalli and Azad Mobility in Sri Sathya Sai district, while land linked to the GINFRA and Jupiter projects was also cancelled, affecting employment opportunities.

He said cement and thermal industries across Rayalaseema are facing intense pressure from coalition leaders seeking transport, ash and other contracts. UltraTech, Dalmia, Vicat, Srichakra and Bharathi Cements are being subjected to repeated interference and intimidation, he said.

He pointed out that Andhra Pradesh, which stood No 1 in Ease of Doing Business during YS Jagan's tenure, even through the Covid period, has now fallen to eighth position.

He also criticised the government for celebrating an ASSOCHAM award to APMDC after raising Rs 9,000 crore by leveraging the State's mineral wealth, calling it corporate lobbying rather than an achievement. (ANI)
