World leaders condemn France terror attack

Synopsis

Leaders from across the globe have strongly condemned the attack on Nice that has left 80 people dead and over a hundred injured after a truck ploughed into a crowd of people celebrating Bastille Day in France.  

US President Barack Obama strongly condemned what he said appeared to be a "horrific terrorist attack" in Nice.

In an official statement shared by the White House on Twitter, he said "On behalf of the American people, I condemn in the strongest terms what appears to be a horrific terrorist attack in Nice, France, which killed and wounded dozens of innocent civilians."

Britain’s Prime Minster also offered her condolences and said "terrible incident" in Nice. "Our thoughts are with all those affected by this terrible incident on what was a day of national celebration.”

Donald Trump, who postponed the announcement of his running mate following the incident, also tweeted

Nicolas Sarkozy, former French President also offered his condolences on twitter and said "Deep sadness in light of the attack in Nice. Solidarity with Nice residents and those from the Alpes-Maritimes region."

The truck driver who ploughed into the large crowd was shot dead by the police, the French interior Ministry confirmed his death and also revealed that the investigators are looking for a potential accomplice. According to reports, the long-distance delivery truck was filled with arms and grenades.
