Facebook post by this mom raises serious questions about her rights

An image of a working woman from Pune with her young ill son lying on her office floor as she finishes her work has gone viral. The photo, posted on Facebook, raises quite a few questions about a working woman’s rights.

This photo was shared by Pune resident Swati Chitalkar on Facebook. Swati who works for Syndicate Bank had to work to process an urgent loan.

In her August 16 post, Swati has written: “It's not a baby on a floor, it's my heart on the floor. He was fully fevered not ready to stay with anybody. As half day is over I couldn’t take leave in between and an urgent release of loan was there. But I could manage to mind my both the duties. Just want to convey the message to ministers who sleeps in assembly”.

Chitalker, through this moving image, has tried to send a message or two to local politicians “who sleep in assembly”. The image also raises questions about working women’s rights and the compromises they have to make.
