Vice President Venkaiah Naidu says Parliament meant for discussion, not disruption

Addressing an event in Bengaluru, he said he was sad post the Parliament session because of some people's bad behaviour, and it has gone to the new low the Indian Parliament had gone. 

M Venkaiah Naidu, India's Vice President, stated that Assemblies and Parliament are for debate, discussion, and decision-making, not disturbances. He reminded elected representatives of their obligations, referring to the recent unpleasant incidents in the Rajya Sabha and indicated action against those involved. He said representatives should focus more on improving the standards of the life of the people by rising to the need of the occasion.

Addressing an event in Bengaluru, he said he was sad post the Parliament session because of some people's bad behaviour, and it has gone to the new low the Indian Parliament had gone.  He went on to add that every lawmaker and public representative should remember the obligation to enhance the institution's standards. They are representing and improving one's contribution through quality, character, capacity, and behaviour, citing previous instances at various state legislatures, including Karnataka.

Noting that he was not afraid to take action against those members involved in the commotion, he said he could take action, but the point is that people of the country will become sad when they see such things on TV. Reminding elected officials that the people elected them, he expressed optimism that things would improve in the coming days. The quality of debate, discussion, and decisions would improve, and disruptions would be avoided. Among those in attendance were Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot and Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
