Two Grooms Reached the Same Wedding in UP

Synopsis

A wedding in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, turned chaotic when two grooms arrived with their respective wedding processions for the same bride. The police were called to mediate the situation, which arose after the bride's family cancelled one engagement and quickly arranged another, ultimately proceeding with the new groom.

A wedding venue in Uttar Pradesh's Amroha district became a high-stakes drama when two men arrived with separate wedding processions for the same bride. As emotions rose, authorities had to intervene to keep the situation from spinning out of hand. The incident occurred in a banquet hall in Amroha, when the bride's family was prepared to welcome a groom and his entourage from Sambhal. However, misunderstanding and tension ensued when another fully dressed wedding party from nearby Moradabad arrived, with both sides claiming to be the genuine groom's family.

According to the media reports, eyewitnesses reported that the unexpected "double baraat" resulted in heated arguments between the two groups, with tempers rising and concerns of a violent clash developing. The bride's family called the police because they were concerned that the situation might worsen.

When authorities arrived at the destination, they saw two decorated cars and two grooms waiting, forcing them to put together the bizarre sequence of events. The inquiry found that the bride had previously been engaged to a relative from Moradabad. However, due to a recent quarrel between the families, the engagement was cancelled.

Despite the cancellation, the Moradabad family, who had already printed and distributed wedding invitations, apparently went forward with their preparations and arrived at the location. Meanwhile, the bride's family quickly arranged a new match  with a man from Sambhal and booked the nikah on the same day, apparently to prevent financial losses.

After understanding the situation, the police left the final decision to the bride’s family. Standing by their revised arrangement, the family went ahead with the wedding ceremony with the Sambhal groom.

The Moradabad party, realising their claim was no longer valid, returned without further confrontation. Officials said all parties eventually reached a mutual understanding, and no legal complaint was filed.
