TMC worker shot dead in West Bengal

A Trinamool Congress worker was shot dead by unidentified persons at Andal in West Burdwan district on Wednesday (November 11) night. Two other men were highly injured in the same incident. They were admitted to a local hospital. Police have started a probe and are conducting searches to arrest the accused persons.


A Trinamool Congress worker was shot dead by unidentified persons at Andal in West Burdwan district on Wednesday (November 11) night. However, two other men suffered bullet injuries after an altercation broke out between the victim and the accused.

According to sources, the Trinamool Congress worker identified as Dharamveer Nonia was sitting along with few others in Khaskajora area. Reportedly, a fight broke out between Dharamveer and another person over personal enmity.

One more person got involved in the fight as he supported the accused. All of a sudden, the accused opened fire on Dharamveer and two of his companions as they were opposing the former. 

Dharamveer Nonia died on the spot, while the others were admitted to a hospital.

While the BJP claimed that the incident was the fallout of “in-fighting” between two groups of the TMC, the TMC denied the allegation and said it was a case of “personal enmity.”

A relative of Dharamveer said, “He had been getting death threats for the past few days.”

Police have started a probe and are conducting searches to arrest the accused persons. Local Trinamool Congress leadership claimed that there is no political angle involved in the incident.
