TMC leader shot in Jalpaiguri; party blames BJP

A TMC leader was shot in Jalpaiguri on Thursday (December 24). The incident took place when the TMC leader named Manoranjan Dey was returning to Alipurduar from Siliguri.
 


A TMC leader was shot in Jalpaiguri on Thursday (December 24). The incident took place near Songachi tea garden in the Malbazar area when the TMC leader named Manoranjan Dey was returning to Alipurduar from Siliguri.

According to police sources, Manoranjan Dey stepped out of his vehicle near the tea garden when some men fired at him.

The TMC leader has been admitted to a nursing home in Siliguri with a bullet injury in one of his legs.

State Tourism Minister Goutam Deb visited Manoranjan Dey at the nursing home. He alleged that the BJP was behind the incident.

Goutam Deb said, “Manoranjan Dey is a prominent TMC leader. He was shot by few miscreants when he stepped out of his vehicle near Malbazar. 

“Manoranjan Dey had stopped near the tea garden while he was on his way back to Alipurduar after finishing some personal work in Siliguri. The BJP is behind this incident. Police are investigating the matter,” he added.

However, the BJP has denied all the allegations.
