Three-year-old twins die after falling into washing machine

Synopsis

The mother of the two left the kids near the washing machine and went out to get household items. She returned back in six months, but could not find the children.  

 

Three-year-old twin boys died after they allegedly fell into a washing machine.


The incident that took place in Delhi’s Rohini locality on Saturday has deeply shaken the residents of the locality.


The mother of the twins, Rakhi, since then has been inconsolable. According to police, she left the twins near the machine and stepped out to buy detergent.

 

After filling up the machine for washing clothes, she realised that she was out of detergent and stepped out of the house "six minutes", a report in Hindustan Times noted.


But when the mother returned home, she could not find the children and after 20 minutes franatic search, she with the help of neighbours informed the police about the missing twins.


In the meantime, the father of the kids, Ravinder, while looking for the kids found them floating inside the washing machines.

 

The couple rushed the children to a private hospital where the boys were declared brought dead. The parents, however, refused to give up and took the twins another hospital in Rohini where doctors again confirmed the death due to drowning.


"It is a mystery how both fell into the tumber," the police told Times of India.


The bodies of the twins now been sent for portmortem.


"The family is inconsolable. The bodies have been sent to Baba Saheb Ambedkar hospital in Rohini for postmortem. Inquest proceedings under Section 174 (police to inquire and report on suicide) of CrPC are underway," a senior police officer told IANS.
