A teenager was stabbed to death with a broken bottle at the residence of the well-known writer, Amit Chaudhuri in Kolkata on Saturday. He was found lying in a pool of blood in the parking lot of the posh locality of Sunny Park in South Kolkata.
Aabesh Dasgupta, a 17-year-old boy who had allegedly come to the birthday party of Chaudhuri’s daughter, became a victim of a drunken brawl, according to the police. Though one of the 17 teenagers who were at the party claimed that he had fallen and had hurt himself.
Another 17-year-old boy has been detained but because of conflicting disputes, the police said that they would wait for the post-mortem report before drawing any conclusions.
According to The Telegraph, Aabesh's mother, Rimjhim Dasgupta, took ill on hearing the news. "There were so many of them at the spot and no one saw anything? How is that possible? It should take the police a couple of minutes to find out," she said.
On Saturday, the group of boys and girls started early and headed to two clubs. Since they were minors, they were refused alcohol. However, by evening they managed to get three bottles of vodka and ended up partying at Chaudhuri's residence.
Amit Chaudhuri, who took the boy to the hospital, released an official statement later on claiming that the boy was not known to his daughter and wasn’t invited to the party. He also said that they had toned down the celebration as the writer lost his mother last week.
