Tamil Nadu reports third case of coronavirus

Synopsis

Tamil Nadu reported its third positive case for coronavirus on Thursday. The patient is currently in isolation at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital and is stable.  


Chennai: A 21-year old student, who came to Chennai from Dublin in Ireland has tested positive for coronavirus. With this Tamil Nadu's coronavirus cases have risen to three. The patient is currently in isolation at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital and is stable.

The patient landed in Chennai on March 17. He was screened at the airport and was sent on home quarantine. On March 18, he started symptoms of fever and cough. Later on Thursday, the test result turned positive.

The second patient is in the isolation at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital. The patient is a resident of Delhi. According to reports, all those who were in contact with the patient are currently under home quarantine.

On March 17, Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital discharged Tamil Nadu’s first coronavirus patient. The 45-year-old man, who had arrived from Muscat in Oman, was admitted to hospital after his samples tested positive on March 7.

The novel coronavirus cases in India rose to 169 on Thursday after 18 fresh cases were reported from various parts of the country, according to the health ministry.
