Tablighi Jamaat Case: Delhi court sets Malaysian and Saudi Arabia's nationals free

Synopsis

After the foreigners accepted their mild charges, under the plea bargain process, 62 Malaysian and 11 Saudi Nationals were set free by Delhi Court in connection with Nizamuddin Markaz case.   

In a latest development in connection with Nizamuddin Markaz case and charges against attendees under violations including visa norms while attending Tablighi Jamaat congregation here during the COVID-19 lockdown, the Delhi court cleared them on a payment of fine of Rs 7,000 and Rs 10,000 each respectively, after they accepted mild charges, under the plea bargain process. 

Metropolitan Magistrate Siddharth Malik passed the order on Friday after the Malaysian attendeed sought lesser punishment under plea bargain process by accepting mild charges.

During the process, Lajpat Nagar's  magistrate,  Additional Commissioner of Police and Nizamuddin Police Station Police Inspector did not raise any objections to please bargaining. 

Similarly, the case pertaining to 11 Saudi Arabia's national who also took part in Markaz, also was disposed. The foreigners accepted mild charges in exchange for lesser punishment under the plea bargain process.

As per norm, under 'plea bargaining', the accused plead guilty to the offence praying for a lesser punishment.
