Smriti Irani to take responsibility of I&B, Narendra Tomar to oversee urban development

Synopsis

Textile Minister-Smriti Irani- will now have the additional responsibility of handling the Information and Bureau ministry. Narendra Singh Tomar previously held the Mining department and the Rural development department. The duo will be responsible for the posts that Venkaiah Naidu held. 

Smriti Irani, the minister for textiles, will now hold an additional charge of the information and broadcasting ministry. After Venkaiah Naidu resigned from his position as the information and broadcast minister, the government announced the possible replacement. Senior BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu resigned as the Information and Broadcast minister last evening after he was announced as the government's nominee for the Vice President in India. 

He also resigned from his post as the Urban Development Minister, which will now be taken over by the Narendra Singh Tomar who is also the minister of mines. In the last Cabinet reshuffle, Smriti Irani had lost the prestigious HRD ministry to Prakash Javadekar and was assigned the textile ministry, for which the Cabinet had cleared Rs 6,000 crore. Likewise, the rural development was assigned to Narendra Singh Tomar.
