
In a case of another journalist being murdered senior journalist KJ Singh and his 92 year old mother Gurcharan Kaur were found dead at their residence in Phase III B 2 in Mohali.
Police officials have reached the spot and are investigating into the possible reason behind the murder. Police suspect this to be case of double murder.
Singh, who was in his 60s, had worked with The Tribune, The Times of India and several other English language publications.
The house was found to be ransacked, giving rise to the speculation of a possible burglary, reported News 18.
"There were injury marks on their necks," Mohali Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Alam Vijay Singh said to PTI.
Condoling the death of Singh, former deputy chief minister of Punjab, Sukhbir Singh Badal tweeted that the police needs to nab the culprits at the earliest.
Singh's murder comes days after a Tripura-based journalist Shantanu Bhowmick, who worked with a local television channel, was found dead with serious stab injuries.
In a similar, shocking murder, noted journalist from Karnataka, Gauri Lankesh, was brutally shot to her death outside her home in Bengaluru.
