RSS withdraws Iftar invitation to Pak High Commissioner

Synopsis

The Rashtriya Muslim Manch (RMM), an RSS affiliate group, today announced that it is withdrawing its Iftar party invitation to Abdul Basit, the Pakistan High Commissioner.

The withdrawal was announced after the Pampore encounter in Kashmir last Saturday, in which eight CRPF were killed. Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant group claimed responsibility for the attack.

Basit refused to take any stand on LeT claims while reacting to media questions.

Earlier the RSS –backed group had sent invitations to diplomats of about 40 Muslim countries for Iftar in an effort to reach out to Muslim nations.

The RMM would host the programme at the Parliament Annexe on July 2.
