Rajasthan minister stands by his remark, says cows do inhale and exhale oxygen!

Synopsis

Rajasthan education minister Vasudev Devnani based his statement on research websites His statement on cows inhaling and exhaling oxygen was criticised by the leaders all over India Various studies have been conducted on the cow, its urine and dung, minister said

Devnani had made the claim on Saturday while speaking at a programme organised by Akshya Patra foundation at Hingonia cow rehabilitation centre. "I read this fact on research websites and it recently appeared in a magazine of Akshya Patra, saying that cow inhales and exhales oxygen and included this in my speech on Saturday," the education minister today said.

To underscore the "scientific significance" of the "holyanimal", he reiterated that this reference can be found in "research studies". Various studies have been conducted on the cow, its urine and dung, and "people need to understand its scientific values," he said.

"The Gaumutra's benefits and its medicinal values are well known and people use and take its benefits. The burning of cow dung makes the environment free of harmful micro-organisms and mosquitoes, making the place suitable for living. Scientific journals and research papers are the base of my statements," he said.

However, a report in 2006 UN Food and Agricultural Organisation said that said that livestock, including cows, are responsible for 18% of the greenhouse gases that cause global warming, more than cars, planes and all other forms of transport put together, stated Hindustan Times. Greenhouse Gas refers to atmosphere that absorbs and emits radiation within the thermal infrared range.

So, the leaders leaning towards the Hindu agenda are seen praising the cow and terming its features including the fact that cow’s urine has gold, which was never proved. Thus, the current incident of just not even bothering to mention the  research paper which has the information on cows inhaling and exhaling oxygen proves that some leaders are will do anything to stand by their point, whether it is true or far from being true.
