The villages in Punjab which are 10 kms from the Indo-Pak border are being evacuated following surgical strikes against Pakistan across the Line of control (LoC).
According to Hindustan Times, Union home minister Rajnath Singh last evening asked chief minister Parkash Singh Badal to evacuate villages near the international border with Pakistan in view of the worsening situation between the countries.
At an emergency meeting, Badal instructed chief secretary Sarvesh Kaushal and DGP Suresh Arora to make sure that villages in and around Ferozepur, Fazilka, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Gurdaspur and Pathankot are evacuated at the earliest. He has further directed the authorities to identify a safe location to set up camps for the residents.
Also, the beating retreat ceremony at the Wagah border in Punjab has also been cancelled by the BSF for today after India announced that it conducted surgical strikes against Pakistan in PoK border killing around 38 infiltrators.
