President Pranab Mukherjee gets farewell from PM Modi

PM Modi presented a memento to the outgoing President. Pranab Mukherjee too spoke of instances when Modi sought his guidance. Pranab Mukherjee was also given a farewell as the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces by the Chiefs of Staff Committee on Friday.

PM Narendra Modi hosted a farewell for the outgoing President Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday as he will step down from the post on Monday when he will complete his five-year term. The MPs from both the houses are likely to organise a farewell for him on Sunday evening in the Parliament's Central Hall. The Parliament Central Hall will also hold the swearing-in ceremony of Mukherjee's successor Ram Nath Kovind on Tuesday.

PM Modi presented Mukherjee with a memento and the dinner following it was attended by President-elect Ram Nath Kovind, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, senior ministers and various Opposition leaders. Mukherjee also signed the visitor's book at Hyderabad House last time as the president of India. Pranab Mukherjee, in his farewell speech, thanked the PM for maintaining excellent relations with the Rashtrapati Bhavan. He recalled incidents when the PM visited him for guidance.

Meanwhile, he was also given a farewell as the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces by the Chiefs of Staff Committee on Friday. The president interacted with senior military officers at the Manekshaw Centre and extended his best wishes to the armed forces and their families.
