Karnataka tourism minister and firebrand BJP leader CT Ravi held the Congress party responsible for Mangaluru's recent "staged violence" and said it was due to provocation by the Congress that two persons ended up dead.
He blamed the Congress for indulging in minority appeasement and said, to oppose BJP, they (Congress) chanced upon this opportunity to protest.
"According to a survey, over 60% are in favour of CAA and NRC. The Congress fears losing its vote bank. In Karnataka alone, about 50,000 persons will obtain citizenship. The Congress wanted a reason to oppose this and they used this agitation as one," said CT Ravi.
Congress reacts: Former minister and Mangaluru MLA UT Khader said, Congress has nothing to do with the violence and demanded an inquiry.
"If we were at fault why will we demand a judicial probe?" asked UT Khader.
